Video: VisionTek Geforce2 Ultra under winxp pro.
Monitor: Sony ES300 multiscan

Im experiencing shadowing on my desktop. For example the characters "My Computer" has a shadow look to it. Also chatting during counter strike the text appears to have a shadow~... to my eye text looks somewhat blurry because of this "shadow"

Im beginning to think that the shadow is WinXp's fault and not my vid card because the same thing happens on my dads system.

is there anything to disable this so called shadow? any fixes?

Go into control panel, select system properties, advanced, scroll down and uncheck "use drop shadows for icon labels on the desktop"

Don't know if it will fix you CS problem.

sound more like ClearType.

Btw, you can goto System>Advance and change these setting in the Performance tab.

I don't think it's cleartype. Same shadowing of fonts here, regardless of cleartype setting. Only happens on the desktop, tho'. Doesn't bother me too much.

Actually, you can only enable or disable font smoothing there. You can't choose between cleartype and standard smoothing in that menu.
