ShadowBlade die-cast metal PS2 Arcade Stick $7.99!!

Hey guys,
My first Hot Deal! 🙂

I stumbled across this while looking at KBToys. You can get the great looking ShadowBlade arcade stick for PS2 for a paltry $7.99!!! Reviews seem to rave over this heavy-duty, die-cast metal housing programmable stick. It even has the nice American style arcade stick instead of the crummy the ball-type Japanese stick.

This stick retails for $60, and the cheapest I can find anywhere else is about $32. If you like fighting games (Tekken, Soul Calibur, Virtua Fighter, etc.), throw that crummy pad away and play the game right! I already picked up 2 of em. 😉

I'm hoping that the stick will also work with adapters so I can use it on Xbox and PC. Hope, hope, hope....

Review of ShadowBlade Arcade Stick

ADDITION TO MESSAGE:

I just looked this stick up at Amazon.com and found a mixture of horrible and great reviews for this stick.... Hmm.... Might pay to check it out. Still, the professional reviews I've found are all encouraging. Just something to weigh...

Wait, spend $49 and you get shipping free! That's what I did. I bought 2 sticks, Tony Hawk PS4 Xbox (17.99), a PS2 USB hub, a Universal Ps2, XBX, Gcube, S-video cable $1.99 (great deal!!!)

The $10 of $49 (really 50+) only seems to work with a single item over $50. I tried to use it yesterday and it wouldn't let me.

Dont mean to thread crap but these can be had on ebay for less than 5 bucks.. seems as if they arent all that great from what Ive read.. still, for retailing at 60, 8 bucks isnt bad

i bought one of these, they are ok for normal home use, but if u are ever serious about practicing arcade fighting games @ u're home, u'r gona hafta opt for an expensive stick... massystems makes the best sticks, blows away the X-arcade brand... but this is a good price for the BEST non-fanatic stick

not trying to crap, just giving my opinion. I've owned 1 before.. they really suck if you plan to play fighters on it... the stick takes really hard to hit diagonals if you are going to play fighters, the buttons are also hard to press. I bought mine at fry's for 9.99 when it was on sale.

Well, since I got 2, if I don't like it, I'll rip it open, pull out the dremel and have some fun! >😀

A couple of years ago, I put together a wooden cased Dreamcast arcade stick with parts purchased from Happ arcade suppliers. Maybe I can put the buttons and/or joystick inside the metal case...

I'm afraid you won't be able to do that either, the parts are totally different, joystick is much smaller, buttons are much smaller. but if are thinking about ripping it open and use the pcb, now that can be done. I've tried that, ended up messing it up since my soldering skills isn't top notch. Also found out that it doesn't have common ground for L/Rs and joysticks.. so make sure you test it thoroughly with a multimeter before you go ahead.

I'd have to second that, unfortunately. A friend picked one up, and they really kinda suck.

I suppose I should also mention, I play SoulCalibur2, against some pretty damn good tournament-level players, at least 3-4 times a week. Currently, most of us use Hori or Namco (made by Hori, I think) arcade-style sticks, for the PS2.

For only $8, a ShadowBlade might be a good purchase, if you have young kids that like to play video games, and might be rough on the controllers, but for "pro-level play", they just don't cut it. Those "MAS Systems" arcade-style sticks aren't bad, but not as good as a Hori stick, IMHO. The "Red Octane" arcade sticks, seem to be just a crappy clone of the "MAS Systems" ones, and are only marginally better than the ShadowBlade sticks. (Yes, I've personally played on all of these sticks.) I personally kinda like this "ArcadeREX" stick that I got on clearance for $10 some time ago. It has decent button feel, and a joystick that is very much as responsive as the Hori/Namco sticks, except that the joystick can be a little bit inaccurate in the corners, and almost a bit too "bouncy", if you know what I mean. I love it for SF games.

I much prefer the "ball-style" sticks for arcade fighters though, I have a permanent callous from playing so many games of Street Fighter on those american-style "bat" sticks. :| The "ball" ones are much more forgiving on the hands for long-term playing sessions, IMHO.

always nice to have a arcade stick for fighting games. just doesnt feel right on a controller.
