Shadow Warrior returns

Duke Nukem Forever failed horribly not because the game was shitty, but due to the now-outdated misogynist humor.

This will not fly well. Is it the same 3D Realms studio? Are they even in business today?

I'm pretty sure it was because the game was shitty...

And none of the jokes were funny.

They really weren't funny in the first one, but the game play was solid. DNF had crappy game play which is why it bombed. I don't recall anyone complaining about the humor (or lack there of) but I could be wrong.

1) This new Shadow Warrior remake is being developed by Flying Wild Hog, the Polish indie studio that created Hard Reset. Hard Reset is a very fast, fun, fluid oldschool-style run 'n' gun FPS with a cyberpunk theme and a beautiful PC-focused homemade 3D engine. I strongly suggest checking it out.

2) The developers have said that it will not contain the same cheesy humor that the original game had. It will be more "modernized"; but it will still be fast-paced, stylized, and fun.

3) The game's being published by Devolver, of Serious Sam fame.

Lay your worries to rest. Given the combination of awesome developer + publisher, I will be buying this game on day 1.

Yes.

This was my favorite FPS of the time. So much fun slicing everything up with your sword, and shooting nuclear missiles at enemies!

I also really liked Blood, which was out at the same time. The two were very similar.

Don't forget Redneck Rampage! :awe:

I loved the new Duke Nukem and I found the humour nostalgic and felt like replaying the original with far better graphics.. Shame that people get all nostalgic and keep saying how they want remakes of old games like that but when they come out, they say it's "old".😕

This is probably why they don't reboot FF7 and some other highly beloved titles.

I disagree. Humor served other games well such as the excellent Saints Row 3 (which I loved) - DNF was just a bad game.

Bought it today, on Steam, for $34. I'm reloading my Fallout New Vegas with sweet crunchy mods, but this might be able to lure me away from it. Seems to me they kept the humor, which was the best part of the game by far.

Also bought the two Chromes for $2 as I never played them when new. Hopefully the graphics whore in me has been sufficiently beaten down by the Fallout universe to allow me to play these. Love me some Steam . . .
