SGS4 ATT preloaded junk?

Hey guys

I have the S4 through ATT it's my first android phone. I like it but am frustrated by the huge amount of pre-installed crap that ATT shoved on it.
Sadly, I cannot find anyway to remove it. Any recommendations for apps that would uninstall this junk?

I know it's small amounts of ram, but I hate things like ATT Locker just sitting in the background, using like 8mb of memory. No matter how many times I "stop" it, it just runs again in a few mins...

It's fairly easy to remove once you root the phone. But even without rooting, can't you go into the app manager and disable them?

Again, my total noob-ness showing here, what do you mean by "root" the phone?

When I disable some of these apps, they stop yea.. but I kid you not in like a few hours I find them running again =(

I mean disable them from the app manager (where you go to uninstall apps and stuff), not from the task manager. You should be able to disable the preloaded junk even if you can't uninstall it.

Just go to settings > applications > all > then select the ATT app you don't want > disable. They will not pop back up again unless you enable them or I guess if they are included in a update.

Rooting is essentially getting super user access level on your phone, which will let you uninstall the bloat instead of simply disabling it. It also lets you do a lot of things you normally wouldn't be able to do.
