SFF on an airplane

Hello, I've built a SFF for my parents and will be flying home on thursday. I would prefer to take it with me as a carryon vice mailing it, it is small enough to fit in an overhead. Will I be allowed on the plane with it as carryon, or even if I check it will they still allow it on the plane?

Sure it's allowed, no reason at all it wouldn't be. However, never send something expensive like that through checked luggage, high probability of either damage or theft. Carry it on.

Probably be fine, but if you get, i mean when you get and idiot that barely knows what a laptop is, and you tell him how you built this small box full of powerfull electronics, you might be up for a few more questions.

Yeah, hopefully I won't have to be strip searched and anally probed.

I built it mostly using an old cpu, ram, and hard drive I had lying around. I would mail it to my parents, but they are the absolutely clueless type when it comes to computers. I had to set it up with all the auto updates enabled for the virus, spyware and windows os because if I didn't they would never be able to do it, even if I tried to walk them through it over the phone.
