SFBay: Is there something going around, i.e. virus/flu?

I work at KALX Berkeley. A DJ Tuesday morning sounded terrible, he was really sick. I tune in Wednesday morning and the DJ sounded barely better, he was really sick. I woke up Wednesday feeling fine, slept well. Started doing stuff and by 11AM started not feeling so great. I did my DJ shift at 3PM, was going downhill. Sounded fine (or almost) I think at the start but by the time I was done at 6PM I figured I sounded really sick!

I was miserable after I got home Wednesday night, and it didn't get much better until Thursday night. Today (Friday) I'm much better, have mostly slept the whole time.

Wednesday I didn't run a fever, but I felt terrible. Yesterday, Thursday, I felt better but was running a low grade fever of 99-100.

I didn't get my flu shot yet this year, it's pretty early, not sure Kaiser has them yet even. Is the flu coming in early this year? Is this a coincidence? Is this the flu or just a "virus?" Is there "something going around?"

er, no, well not AIDS, I'm zero risk, was tested negative. Classic virus, maybe a little understated for THE FLU, but seems to me pretty over the top for THE COMMON COLD. Dunno, any way it wasn't fun, let me tell you. I did go to a family function in southern California over the weekend, so was in public places (BART trains, BART airport shuttles, airport, planes, big party, stayed at my neice's house), I could have picked up some germ in any of those places, I suppose.

herpes? Well, I had a shingles vaccine injection around 3 weeks ago, doubt that's related.

No idea, but I have been sick for the past couple weeks. Just now getting over whatever it was. First day was fever/chills/headache, then degraded into stuffy nose and mucked up lungs. People close to me have been getting sick as well. Must just be something going around.

Sounds very similar to what I had: headache (I'm a guy who very very rarely experiences any kind of headache), chills, fever (in the latter stages, and reaching 100), runny nose, now a bit of a cough that's clearing, some post nasal drip I hope doesn't linger too long.

Where are you?
