You're obviously a winner.

Honestly... your entire nation is known throughout the world as sheep fuckers and you want to start jabbing fun at others? I mean literally there are two things people know about New Zealand, that you guys fuck sheep and that Lord of the Rings was made there.

If I do a search for "progressives" by user, you come up with 177 responses. Out of interest, every other poster in this thread comes back with zero results combined. You have an obsession with progressives, and you bring it up in almost every post you make.

Nice defection.

Your argument is completely irrelevant to the F-A-C-T-S surrounding Tazers and the San Francisco police department.

Go away now so we can get back on topic.

No, there are literally two things YOU THINK you know about NZ - and that's because you're yet another poorly educated, ignorant American who knows nothing about anything outside his own borders.

Coming from the guy who doesn't live within 1000 miles of San Francisco yet claims to know why their police don't carry Tazers.

Can we please get back on topic?

Tazers save lives.

I didn't say anything about the police in SF. I'm just saying you have an unhealthy obsession with "progressives".

They are "progressives" and they are proud of such. So why don't you take your ignorant NZ ass out of here then? You obviously are so ignorant of other nations that you're just making a fool out of yourself.

yeah I know you're just going to tell me I'm an ignorant American again because it will make you feel better about coming from and living in such an insignificant little country.

Who said anybody was shooting with a knife you moron?

The idiot was walking around, had a knife, stabbed an officer, committed other acts of vandalism, and was even sprayed and warning shot with a beanbag, and he still resisted, so he was shot. Not hard to get through that thick skull buddy.

You're a bigger bitch than me.
WTF is wrong with U?

Unfortunately, Patranus is right. SF police don't have tasers...yet, but the Chief of Police keeps trying to get them.

SF police chief renews call for Tasers
January 06, 2011|By Jaxon Van Derbeken, Chronicle Staff Writer

(01-05) 16:02 PST San Francisco — Following two police shootings of men with knives in as many weeks, Police Chief George Gascón pledged Wednesday to revive his push for the use of electronic stun guns as a less-lethal method to subdue suspects.

Last year, the chief made an unsuccessful pitch to the Police Commission panel to consider equipping officers with the devices but was rebuffed when the commission rejected his proposal after raising questions about safety and efficacy.

The chief appeared to give up on the idea, but on Wednesday - at a press conference on crime statistics - Gascón, clearly frustrated by the recent events, said he was ready to push for the idea as the only way he knows for officers to subdue knife-wielding suspects besides shooting them.

He pointed to Tuesday morning's incident - captured on a cell phone video - in which a man in a wheel chair who stabbed an officer earlier was shot. The man had been slashing tires with a knife. Police had used a bean bag round as well as pepper spray to try to subdue the man. But seconds after he had thrown the knife away, he was shot.

"A Taser more than likely would have ended this scenario, probably at the earlier stages," the chief said. "But we don't have a Taser."

Gascón said he was new to the city when he made the first approach to the commission and is now ready to try again as early as next month.

"I believe part of the blame for that not being approved was perhaps my presentation - that I did not take enough (time) to educate all the commission members, and I take responsibility for that.

"I underestimated the political environment I was operating under," he said, noting that the commission makeup has since changed.

Last week, police fatally shot a man with a knife inside a home in the Portola district, after responding to a call of a disturbance at the home. The man, Vinh Bui, had a history of mental illness."

Whether to blame it on "progressives" is another issue all together.
