Am I the only person who gets bothered when they see sexy/semi-nude/nude pictures of female athletes? It just sort of bothers me that we can't just focus on them being athletes.

Not saying I don't like the pictures, because I do :p Just saying that it sorta bothers me how we sexually objectify our female athletes.

This is why there's a babe thread in L&R. Post the pics there. -DrPizza

ugh, fail in all kinds of ways that are an afront to me as a person.

Desiree Ficker is a nice triathlete, Tanith Belbin skater, Kara Goucher runner, the list is endless. They are more than athletes. How dare you objectify these people as being simple athletes? :)

Atheletes can still be hot. This thread is proof. Nothing wrong with admiring the human form as long as you keep it tasteful

How many male athletes have photos taken of them?

Now yes, it is of a lower number, because the viewership for athletic material tends to be more male. But athletes in general get sexually objectified, if they can be said to be attractive in any way. Athletic people tend to have great bodies, showing the human form in top condition.
IMHO, that SHOULD be sexually objectified. Most definitely more so than models. Most female athletes are not sickly skinny, for example. They will all be "fit" in a different way, depending on sport in question. But they are all physically fit, and any physically fit female is something I'd enjoy seeing more of, as compared to some runway model who probably is just skinny because of eating habits and not fitness (typically can tell by the lack of muscle definition).

Oh, and that skier has a smokin lower body. Good curves.

I :heart: snow bunnies. :D

I don't mind it. The skiers and snowboarders in the SI swimsuit edition were rather enjoyable.

not my fault if they want to wear skimpy outfits and pose for a picture...might as well enjoy the view ;)
