I am working on a paper for an english class on sexism in video games. I am stuck, need some good examples. I have Tomb Raider, Duke Nukem, Leisure Suit Larry,Panty Raiders. Can anyone think of any others. Thanks

What?!?

That's just not true. The Medics don't turn evil. Actually they sound a bit, er, well, frisky. And the transport captains are hardly evil.

Hmm... Example for your paper:

Max Payne. Plenty of raunchy posters and magazines lying around Jack Lupino's hotel and slum complexes. And then there's a scene where a prostitute is about to give Rico Muerte a little oral action before Max bursts in.

btw - I've killed Muerte with a single shot. Right after I open the bar I nailed him with the sniper rifle right through the head. His dual ingrams weren't very usefull against that.

Well, think of it this way. All the female characters that aren't evil are support characters *as they should be* and are told what to do by you. All the unique female characters turn evil.

The Medics are in it for the money. The transport captains won't hesitate to use YOU as a floatation device.

There, all women eventually turn evil, are gold diggers, or will use you as a floatation device.

perfect dark (n64), Oni, No One Lives Forever, Dead or Alive 3 (xbox), GTA3 (PS2).
i'm sure there's more, how's that for a start?

On a roll today, aren't you? Ripping off bookstores and dissing femmes. Which dorm are you in again? I'll come lay the smackdown on ya. 😛 BTW, ready for finals?

Perhaps GTA3? I've not played the game, nor am I very familiar with it, but I've heard there's stuff like sexual violence in it.

how about parasite eve and resident evil? All the ads I've seen for them in magazines advertise the girls, not the game.
Definitely Dead or Alive 3 <---- "She kicks high"

There was also the part where Max stumbles upon a prostitute's hotel room. The one where she had a separate room set up to film her clients and then blackmail them with.

How is Oni and No One Lives Forever considered games with sexism in them?

Theres no sexism in videogames. if women loved playing action games then the market would change to suit their tastes. but how would that work? would women want to look at a brawny guy jumping around on screen killing endless hoards instead of lara? If you turned the model in tombraider to say josh hartnet would that be enough to convince girls to go wild on video games? i think they would instantly lose their male audience, thats for sure. Software developers aren't stupid, if they can tap an untapped market, they will do it. they have tried and failed, and tried again with barbie/makeover pc software etc.. the only big game i know of that women seem to love is the sims. Theres nothing sexist about the sims right? 🙂 maybe women are better at it since their social skills are more compatible with a game like that. if girls want games, then women should @#% program games for them.

SIN had women in it, as objects... Lara Craft if i remember correctly

Everquest. In the new expansion pack the women lost like half of their clothes.

the command center computer is female😛

🙂
Medic: "turn your head and cough"
"where does it hurt!"(you know how it was said🙂 )
"you want another physical?"

blizzard certainly does have good taste in voice talent. cute voices from 50 year olds i bet🙁

I think Ms.Pac-Man is the most sexist video game ever. You've got this gal who is being chased as these four others are trying to jump her - plus she's forced to eat this little white blobs of whatever laying on the floor...

gross...

And any of this is sexist because...?

It's called atmosphere. There ARE parts of North America like this. 😀
