And no one in the market targets the other 50% of the population with a satisfying sex-bot for women... why?

Because there's no market for it. Women are, for the most part, getting what they want for free, or getting paid to get what they want. They're also more likely to be interested in having children and the emotional component of a relationship.

The population of men willing to have sex with a real woman won't change. The population of men actively trying to have sex with a real woman will.

Why would women pay for sex though even with the less desireable 50% of the male population dropping out of the market they're most likely not participating in in the first place?

For men, it's a solution to a problem that exists.

For women, it's a solution to a problem that doesn't exist.

Women already consider over 80% of the male population below average.

Why bother? Most women already have a waiting stable of suitors for just that very purpose.

Again, what incentive is there for a woman to pay for something she can readily acquire for free or with a monetary incentive in her favor?

You are also stuck in the existing paradigms. Adjust your dials accordingly to receive, Major Tom.

"Most" women have a stable? Got some data for that claim? Or just your experience?

You make it sound like men come with zero complications or disadvantages at all. If a woman could get all the sexual satisfaction she needs without all the downsides of men, you think there aren't going to be takers for that? Really? Particularly if available men become more scarce and take advantage of their scarity/potential value to act the fool?

I feel as though you are simply not projecting out far enough to consider the larger ramifications to society and sex dynamics.

Does a woman you know have male friends?

Supporting data provided.

Particularly if available men become more scarce and take advantage of their scarity/potential value to act the fool?

Women already don't need men in their lives beyond sexual satisfaction. Look at the level of state support for single women or divorced women. Why are the single mother statistics so high in the US and Europe?

The state provides and divorced men provide. There's no incentive to stay in a relationship or even start a stable relationship.

I feel as though you are simply not projecting out far enough to consider the larger ramifications to society and sex dynamics.

I feel you are simply unaware of the current societal reality and are unaware that we're already here. It's not going to get a lot worse because it's already at rock bottom for the portion of the population this would impact.

What's the incentive to have sex with a real woman for a man who can get a satisfying experience from a sexbot?

None. But you're not realizing that a sizable population of the male populous is already below the ridiculous standards set by women to get laid in the first place.

If you're not in the top 10-20% of men already, you're getting nothing as it is.

Nebor is in the top 20% of men, and I'm in that 80%. You've got both sides of the coin agreeing here.

I missed where the He-Man Woman-Haters Club had a quorum. I will withdraw from this non-discussion.

My mistake. Beg pardon.

Some feminists in the 70s and 80s were adamantly campaigning against porn with the argument that it increased sexism and violence against women. Various studies have since suggested otherwise. Same thing happened with the scare over violence in video games. Such a thing has been argued with prostitutes in general, yet when prostitution was accidentally made legal in Rhode Island both rates of rate and STD transmission went down.

At some point people need to realize that giving humans more outlets for safe and legal desires tends to decrease the amount they seek harmful and illegal alternatives. Not increase.

Snap!

I wonder how she squares that with women using errr "personal massage devices." Last I checked women are still out there tryin to catch a dick.

Sure they are, but which sex has the power when it comes to sex? Men ask. Women choose.

A quality sex bot would greatly level the playing field, so of course some will say that they're unethical as they would dismantle the primary source of female privilege.

Many of the same non-physical reasons men pursue sex with real women now: External validation, bragging rights, a feeling of accomplishment & self-worth.

Take your butthurt back to the comments section of Jezebel if you can't handle a group of educated men discussing things logically. The sexual marketplace roughly follows game theory, and realistic robots dramatically alter the game. That fact is obvious, which is why basically everyone is agreement.

I'd be very curious to see how that changed in a system where sexbots were a viable option. Certainly there would be trophy-style options for the wealthy to make bragging and validation tied more seamlessly with their sexbot... but perhaps not.

I agree they are a game-changer. And I don't have butthurt or read Jezebel. My problem was with someone asked for any kind of data directly pulling they "that's just the way it is, bro" and seemingly being proud of it.

Then going on to talk about how women have things so great right now. It's an absurdly limited perspective that would reach such a conclusion.

You got a problem with someone faced with a non-participant choosing to not engage further? Then your problem is with maturity, dick-lick.

Wheeeee!

Sexbot validation would be more akin to having a nice car. The wealthy will have higher quality, more realistic sexbots.

Having sex with a female human would be more for the bragging rights of "Someone who actually has a choice in the matter wants to have sex with me." The sexbot will simply increase the options available to men who aren't desired by women, and decrease the loss realized by those men who are unable to partake in sex due to their undesirability.

Are you saying women don't have it so great when it comes to sex? Are you saying men have the same sexual capital that men do?

As I stated, men ask, women choose. Women have almost all of the power in sexual relationships, that's just biology and societal evolution. What data would prove that to you?

I'm saying that limited context is only that, a limited context. It barely explores the vast ripples that a change to this foundational dynamic of humanity would have.

Maybe I am seeing it as too incredible a change, but humanity + sexbots seems like such a monumental change, that I could see it going utopia or dystopia just as easily over a couple generations.

tbh the "80% of men undesirable" and "stables of prize horses" thing is definitely exaggerated. Most men could find sexual partners if they lowered their standards enough, the issue just comes down to whether or not men are willing to do that, and when you consider that might mean marrying low-employment single mothers with other assorted baggage, it's reasonable that many men would sacrifice a fully realistic sex life for greater personal and financial freedom. I don't see realistic sex dolls being status symbols for a really long time, if ever, though (except on forums where users post their dakimakuras).

NM.

That is too much, even if it is a VICE report.

Just look up VICE, and The Digital Love Industry on You Tube if interested.

I'm not going to link it.

I don't disagree. It will be as major a shift to human sexuality as computers and robots have been to labor.

If it's exaggerated, it's not exaggerated by much. You even said it yourself. Average men need to lower their standards... and settle for women who have already been used and abused by and had kids with that top-20%-desirable male who got tired of her and moved on. That bottom-80%-undesirable is now the "nice guy" who is raising that desirable guys kids.

And I don't think it's a stable of prize horses that's being claimed exists, just a stable. Nobody said they were all winners. Quite a few are just poor horses hoping to be saddled and ridden now and then rather than left in the barn or turned into dog food. The fact remains that a woman who wants a man will have no trouble finding one, even if it's not her top pick. Men cannot say the same.

I would expect that there would be a market for used realistic sexbots. Would the market be like a car, where it loses 20% when you drive it off the lot? Or would it be more like a laptop where it depreciates 90% in 3 years. Wear and tear will make a difference, but if you buy it off e-bay, buyer beware. Of course if Apple introduces iSexBot, prices should not depreciate as quickly, based on the iPhone market. Yes, Apple is wasting its time on the car market. This market will be hotter. Siri v7.0.

The Pre Owned Sexbots adds would be a bit amusing.

Even watching the VICE thing with the wife in the background making comments is pretty interesting, she a bit fired up atm :p

She was making dinner in the kitchen and keeps popping in making remarks listening to it.

She did comment it would cut down on STD's, is almost heading into Demolition Man sex.

Actually, I recently read an article that indicated that in most parts of the U.S. the ratio of college-educated heterosexual women to college-educated heterosexual men was significantly greater than 1:1.

Just did a web-search and found this:

As financial reporter and author of Date-Onomics: How Dating Became a Lopsided Numbers Game, Jon Birger puts it, “It’s not that He’s Just not That Into You. It’s that There Aren’t Enough of Him.”

In his book, Birger eloquently explains, in terms that even the non-statistically-literate can comprehend, that the gender ratios of college graduating classes in the past few decades reveal that there really aren’t enough single guys. The “man deficit” is real for the graduate set. The current college class breakdown of women to men is 57:43, which means that there will be about one-third more women than men with college degrees when graduation arrives.

If we assume these women will want to marry college-educated men—a desire that Birger convincingly argues should and will change—there’s simply not enough men to make all those trips down the aisle a reality.

This extends to those seeking just relationships (as opposed to marriage), too. At least for the college-educated war-of-the-sexes, single men increasingly have the advantage.

Depends how much you could modify them. If they're built to order and no changes could be made I guess there would be clubs were you could swap them for a different shape/height or whatever.
