Fun but ultimately a demo PBX with VOIP support.

That machine looks cool though. What are the specs of the system?
 
Put the optical inside the table so that you can use it without pulling it out from the insides. Something better for the keyboard would also be a good thing... If the table had a small draw type deal that you could flip down the face and then use as a keyboard draw, that would be nice. If he really wants to get creative, use a small form factor optical (like laptop size) or such... Also, a thinner, full sized keyboard will be well appreciated.

Of course, it could be done with a Mac mini and save a hell of a lot of work. Put OS X Server on it and you have a server running FreeBSD with a excellent GUI on top. Use the same display and just get any USB keyboard and mouse. It would most likely use up less space inside that table too (mini is 6.5"x 6.5"x 2" WITH the optical and hard drive inside).
