Im a newbie to the forum, thanks in advance...
I have a FIC 503+ MB (pcb 1.1a) running a k63-400, 2*128m of pc100 DIMM, a SoundBlaster Live Value and Diamond Viper770 (TNT2 chip). Recently I purchased a Hercules ProphetII (GForce2 MX)and started having trouble with 'noise' running D3D games, specifically SystemShockII and UnrealTournament. SSII 'crackles' and Unreal is almost unplayable with very heavy 'scratching' (its a little hard to descibe, almost like a high frequency pinging noise). Ive gone through the drivers and have fixed nothing. Im not a novice and I realize that there are alot of possible causes, including hardware issues that I have not yet ruled out (swapping the sound card comes to mind). My question would be: has anyone had trouble with AGP support on this PCB? I seem to recall some issues with FICs implementation of the AGP port on older MBs, could the 4x capacity of the card be causing a freakout? I am currently running the card at 2x, the max allowed on the MB. My Viper770 worked flawlessly. Any feedback? Thanks
