1T Race Update for 1-22-2003 (Started 1-15-2003)

SeanD passed Paperboy in this update.
Does LyNx01 have enough power to take the win? He's been gaining on mordrid52, but not quite fast enough it would seem.

Would a P4 with a high memory bus frequency be well used in this contest ?

If so, how do i join TA ?

P4s are the best processor to run on this project. I will let Confused or someone else answer on how to join. I don't wanna give you some bad info. ;)

P4's rock at this project. The project is SSE2 enhanced (as well as SSE and 3D-Now!), so of course this suits the P4, as this processor needs SSE2 for high performance.

There are 2 ways to set up an account, and 1 way to join the Team.

Firstly, for both methods, visit the download page, download the client, and install it.

Windows client: In the first box that pops up, enter your preferred username, and the email address you wish to use. You must use a valid email address, otherwise you will not be able to join the Team. (The Team box in the client signup is not longer in use).

Linux client (and Windows client method 2): Before/after download/installing, visit the signup page, and enter your preferred username, and email address.

To join the Team, you must visit the login page, and enter your username, and the password emailed to you. Once you have logged in, go to Preferences. Here you can change your web login, and you will also be able to join a Team. Select Anandtech (Run by Confused, xx members) from the drop down menu, and then click on the button to join the Team.

If you are not using the in-built signup in the Windows client, or are installing it on another computer, click Cancel for the signup screen that pops up, go into Config, and enter your username and email address in the relevent fields. There is no need there to specify the Team, as it is all done via your username. In the Config, you may also wish to change the default time between retries if it cannot connect, and set options for it to start on Windows startup :)

Hope this helps, and just ask if you have any more problems :)

That seems a good speed :) Of course, the speed depends on the k and n values, so it's difficult to directly compare speeds, until they bring in the new method of working it out (which will be in a couple of months, so there may be another client update, but not too soon, and I will contact/tell everyone about it when it happens :))

for now its a P4 2400@2700 with 512MB DDR376

Changing mobo on weekend to try +2900.

Now it's working at 242000/sec. k=24737 n=2438863

I guess SoB loves memory bandwith, I have a P4 2.26GHZ with 512MB of PC-1066 RDRAM, 242000 is on the low end of what my rig produces, I have gone as high as 315000 on some blocks

With the new mobo i'll try going to the 400/410 memory speed and see the increase of results.

Mail didn't arrive yet.
