I'm surprised the BMW did so bad adn the Caddy came out on top.

They stated that the test was about luxury (which is why the BMW lost out) but then they blasted the Volvo for being to floaty.

glancing at the last page:
530 came in 6th?
300 came in 4th?!

What did they say about comparing $55k cars to $34k ones?

This is sort of the the NIT bracket of those that didn't make the cut for the NCAA. Where's the TL, G35, GS300/ES300 at?

Those clearly would have whooped the other cars in this comparison.

Wow, interesting results. Very surprised at the BMW and Caddy placement. However, I have driven the new E500, and the E (at least this newest version) is impressively competent at everything. I was very surprised, not being a Mercedes man myself. The E320 only has a 5 speed auto compared with 7 (and 2 reverse gears), and a lot less power, but it should have the rest of the strengths.

the g35 allegedly is too small a car for this since its a 3 series and audi a4 , merc c class competitior. then again its like 2 inches shorter than a 5 series.

The G35 compares to the CTS in size.

Take out the price consideration and the BMW wins...

That said, kudos to Cadillac.

Kudos to Cadillac.

They are nuts. I don't know how that ugly POS could be crowned #1 over the others. I guess if you base your decision solely on price the cheapest car would come out on top.

The Caddy gets 382.7 with out the price consideration and the BMW gets 369.1 how does the BMW win?

Looks are subjective I'd prefer the Caddy over the new BMW, the new BMWs just look kind of odd to me.

good question.

On one car, they write that this comparo is luxury based. On another car, they say how it's sportiness gained it points...so I'm confused. I don't think they fully thought out this comparo, because the CTS doesnt' really compete against the E-class or the Volvo S80. The S60R would have been a better competitor as would have been the C320. And the G35 and TL should have been included.

I don't really like their selection of cars. It just seems like there are plenty that would fit that weren't included (some mentioned above, some not) Pretty worthless test imo.

On a side note - went down to Deep Ellum last Saturday - there was a 300 rolling around on 22's - there wasn't a damn head that wasn't turned towards the car or a "god damn" that wasn't spoken about the car.

I'm also confused about the missing G35 sedan in this lineup. It can't be that they don't think the infiniti brand as luxurious because... well, volvo and chrysler are in that lineup. Or about sportiness since that is one of the things that they grade on... I'm thinking that they will do another 6-cylinder shodown in 6 months. This time with the G35 Sedan and upcoming GS330.

so with a budget of $50k, what luxury car would you guys buy? My parents are getting ready to purchase one, and my mom really likes the E320. After reading some reviews about it it seems like a good car, despite what everyone says about Benz's deteriorating quality. Plus I think it looks great. If only they sold the CDI version in Cali :(

A Lexus GS400, An Infiniti M45 (I like the current and upcoming generations), or the next gen Acura RL (300HP from a V6 + AWD = w00t!!!)
