Too many things "unexplained?" Please. That's life. Almost every major happening has lots of unexplainable little curiosities. Look at the eerie similarities between the assassinations of Lincoln and Kennedy.

Are you saying Lee Harvey had a time machine?

Im sorry, but to keep something so mammoth and earth shattering a secret for so long....is unfeasable. I mean, just think about how many people would of had to have been in on it...and not ONE of them has talked. Hell, we cant keep a blowjob in the oval office a secret, yet we can keep the most devastating attack on American soil a secret? I mean, just think about it for a bit.

Too many questions need answered to just write it off IMO.

to quote a really good movie, "too many secrets"

the fact of the matter is that there were a bunch of aspects to the 9/11 attacks that were not looked into or investigated by the commission. not only that, but bush and cheney were never under oath and their testimony was done in secret. the victims of the attack deserve better.

... ok? you're right. of course i would. i just said i would.

😕

apparently, it's a bad thing to you to want a thorough investigation about a large-scale attack involving thousands of deaths. until one takes place, the book will never be closed.

gee, it's a hard concept, the whole wanting answers to big questions and everything and not taking suspicious things for granted. sometimes i wonder how the hell i do it...

All the links on the OP-Ed page you provide lead to sites such as truthout and 911truth, and Cheney impeachment polls. More conspiracy theories. Nothing to see here.

And 7 veteran cia conspiracy theorists...

Precisely; they come in all walks of life these days. Isn't Ron Paul one as well 😉

Actually no, he is not.🙂

Sorry; I forgot. He said we brought 9/11 on ourselves.

So what makes these ex-cia veterans more believable than the ones who said there was WMD in Iraq?

Hmmm, witnesses? Video? Pictures? Scientific facts? <shrug>

the only questioned being asked are the ones by the tinfoil hat people...sad but true!!

What is it with people that get off by degrading others? Name calling might have worked in the 5th grade, but I think we are both adults and deserve to be treated as such.

What's interesting is that so many former CIA agents/analysts, Marines, etc., all of whom have had long careers, believe this. How adamant they believe in this conspiracy I haven't really researched thoroughly enough (perhaps they only leave the possibility open but don't actually believe the gov't conspired on 9/11). In the end, these theories are so far fetched merely because I don't think the US gov't is capable of such a massive coverup, at the highest levels no less, as we've failed at far simpler tasks with a lot more money and support (see: Iraq). But is it certainly interesting (or disheartening?) to see so many seemingly credible people aboard this train.

Well if these are credible people as you say, maybe, just maybe....theres something to it.

Mankind has this burning desire to have the official version of events. Look at the Warren report on the Kennedy assassination. The damn thing can't be right.

Why can't we say some of these things we can establish as solid facts and beyond that we just can't be sure about final conclusions.

But go back---see point one---mankind has a burning desire to have an official version of the events embellished with fanciful conclusions.

I think after a 30 year career at the CIA you would see conspiracies everywhere. ABC, NBC, CBS...they all have B and C in their names, what could it mean, what could it mean??!

He said seemingly credible. You lose your credibility when you start subscribing to conspiracy theories.

Why is somebody who says "Something could have happened" credible just because he was in the CIA when disco was king? Show me an officer from 2001 forward, that actually has some real evidence, then they will be taken seriously. Otherwise - crackpots come from all walks of life.

Look at the hodgepodge of crap they are putting forth...
"An airliner almost certainly did not hit The Pentagon" - the MOST thoroughly debunked theory

""Similarly, we have seen no evidence that any foreign government -- or government official -- supplied any funding." then we have " In subsequent interviews, Baer has suggested that support for the attacks could have come from Saudi Arabia and Iran." Huh? Contradict yourself much?

Ah - here's Baer's motivation...partisanship! "Why isn't the WMD story being investigated? Why hasn't anybody been held accountable for 9/11? We held people accountable after Pearl Harbor. Why has there been no change in command? Why have there been no political repercussions? Why has there been no -- any sort of exposure on this? It really makes you wonder."

Frankly, the biggest reason why I probably won't vote for Ron Paul is because he attracts the scum that believe in 9/11 conspiracies.

Just how many "thorough investigations" do you require?! We've already had one, but I guess you'd love to fund another one... and another... and another...

Basically until he and his ilk get the answer they want. It is all Bush's and the Republicans fault.

I reject conspiracy theories almost perfunctory manner. That means if one of them is ever right I will be on the wrong side of the truth.

Truth is an entirely human concept, subject to our rules and interpretations. More often than not, it is the opinion of the majority. And I like it that way.

You can't have your kind of certainty without the power of some such illusion.

It's not any sillier than the argument the 9/11 truthers make. I mean, the 9/11 Commission didn't look into the possibility of aliens being behind the attack, did they? Well damn, guess they just weren't thorough enough.

Let's face it, to be a 9/11 conspiracy theorist you have to blatantly and patently ignore a huge mountain of solid evidence that's right in front of you in order to point at a few small scraps in an ankle-high pile to the side and exclaim "Look at the unanswered questions. What are they hiding?!1?!1!?"

That's not to mention that the truthers are split into their own little conspiracy camps and they each claim the other has it wrong and only they are bearers of truth and wisdom in the world. The 9/11 CTs are just plain wackos and that's all there is to it.

yes, it is more silly. conspiracies happen and there is evidence that is suspicious of a conspiracy and tons of unanswered questions. the difference between that and aliens is that aliens have not been found, whether by radio waves, radar, actual aliens, etc. seti WANTS to find aliens and have done everything possible to try finding them, but they haven't found anything.

you might as well argue that there wasn't an investigation of moonkins coming to life and causing the attacks on 9/11. it has no basis fundamentally. huge difference between that and wanting questions answered with a more thorough investigation.

if anything, a thorough investigation should be had in order to shut conspiracy theorists up once and for all.

There is no evidence for a lot of the "questions" the 9/11 CT crowd are asking because there's no evidence that their version of events ever happened in the first place. Not only that but the 9/11 Commission report addressed the events leading up to 9/11 and not how the towers fell, what Silverstein really meant by "pull it," whether sulfur was indicative of thermite/thermate/super-thermate/nano-thermate or whatever that whack-job Jones is claiming this week, or whether a cruise missile actually hit the Pentagon instead of a commercial jet. Those questions have been addressed by others yet the truthers consistently fail to acknowledge that those questions have already been answered.

The main questions have been answered. 19 Arab men hijacked 4 jets and crashed them in various locales. OBL came up with the plan. Bush and Co. are far, far too inept to ever pull off something on the massive scale and scope required to plan and execute such an event. It's impossible. There's a greater chance aliens were involved than Bush did it.

actually, those questions haven't been sufficiently addressed. if they were, people wouldn't still be asking about them.

Actually they have been addressed. It's just that the people asking those questions only want to hear the answers they've already decided are the correct answers and automatically reject anything else. They are not searching for truth they are looking for a lynching.

nope. they haven't. people don't want to believe that they've been had... they want answers to questions. when they don't get them, they start feeling like they've been duped and every additional question gone unanswered and suspicious finding will just fuel the belief that they've been duped. so, to stop it, answer the questions. it's not that frigging hard.

personally, i don't know what happened... i'm not going to say what happened because i don't know. i don't buy the official story, but i'm not sold on the conspiracy theories. i just don't know. more answers would be good.

Since the details of those questions and answers cannot be discussed here, if you want the answers then go to the James Randy Educational Foundation (JREF) forums and ask there. You'll find that the vast majority of the questions the truthers ask HAVE already been answered and that the vast majority of their questions are bogus in the first place. Their questions are not questions so much as faulty observations, poor speculation, outrageously horrid science, and a few just completely gonzo theories with no foundation in reality.

The truth is already out there if you are actually looking for the truth. I've been debating the truthers for 5 years on a wide variety of subjects so I can tell you with some authority that they don't want to hear the actual truth or search for real answers. For them it's more about spreading FUD and trying to muddy the waters to they can vent their ire at Bush, or the Jews, or the neo-cons, or the NWO, or whatever other group those nutjobs insist is behind 9/11.

Crap logic, that. People still question the 1969 moon landing. Just because an insane person questions something even after all evidence has shown them to be nuts doesn't mean the questions haven't been sufficiently answered.
