setup XP HOME with PRO

Is it easier to connect XP Pro to Pro? And harder for Home to Pro?

I need some help, everything I want to share an Internet connection or trade files with another computer, the network setup wizard doesn't seem to do it right all the time, and can barely keep up with maintaining optimal settings...

I want to share Internet, share files and do that sort of stuff, wired or wireless. Can anyone provide a simple solution, to whether I should just add IP's, workgroup settings, etc.?

thank you

i think the only major difference between XP Pro and Home is that Home can't be joined to a domain. other than that they can do everything thing you want them to do.

"the network setup wizard doesn't seem to do it right all the time"

All the time? You just want to run the wizard initially. Once.

"and can barely keep up with maintaining optimal settings..."

same thing, configure once. nothing to keep up with.

Just google WIndows XP file sharing tutorial or walkthrough. Many of them out there, then post with details if you run into problems. I'm sure Jack will be along to give you a site to check out as well. ezlan.com I believe but don't quote me.

Share internet: Get a router, use it to share internet.
Share files: Right click on the folder you want to share (or share the whole hard drive if you wish) and pick sharing tab. I never use the wizard.
Share printers: Goto your printers from start menu, right click and pick SHARE. Then on the other computers pick ADD PRINTER and pick NETWORK printer, browse to it and add it that way.
