Do You think choosing an amd for gaming is crazy or do i have any supporters. And wouldsomeoen tell me witch Graphics card is better for Counter-Strike Nvidia or Ati. From people that have had ati, thay say there products overheat. All i care about is a good graphics card that has decent gameplay action and does not over heat and has good drivers.

Also what do u guys think about instead of the amd setup i switch to a 3.0e or c HT and get a lanparty mobo and over clock?

Hit me up with feedback PLZ

AMD is the CPU for gaming if you have looked at many reviews. As for CS uhhmmm ANY card u get will kill it lol... Also I tink for the most part NV cards are warmer. I don't know either that "overheat" though...

Looks like a a great setup. Either video cards would be awesome for CS. Of course if you are using OpenGL CS, you will need to use Reforce to lock your refresh rates using ATI cards.

AMD for games. I have used Intel and AMD and I am never buying and Intel again. Get and AMD if you are a gamer for sure.

Yea I've mostly heard AMD is better for gaming. I use a P4 2.4C but I have no complaints either.

Although I would just dish out a few extra bucks and get some Corsair XMS ram instead of the value RAM.

my 20pence

CPUs - generally Intel is faster for OpenGL/Quake engines, then it's pic n' mix with a fair bonus to AMD for DirectX games. Of course it really isnt anything like that simple, since for starters do you compare on mhz, PR/mhz or cost of platform? Everytime I'm been pricing up a new system I've found the AMD to be giving easily the best bang for the given bucks... though i've always stayed away from the latest & greatest which always has a big premium (for any hardware)

Vid - ATI overheat? er no, if anything nvidia in theory would be more prone to it, but neither should have any problems unless you screwed up. 9800pro are a great deal over here right now, but make sure you're aware of these new ati and nvidia cards which are just about out.

Case - I guess that one is a good deal but personally I'd rather get a quality case and PSU. MY choice right now would be Antec SLK3700BQE, which comes with a quality & lownoise 350w PSU, spaces for two 120mm fans which are good for high airflow at relatively low noise (maybe add that second fairly low RPM [25mm thick!] for intake). Also rubber grommets to reduce the vibration of that 10,000 rpm drive.

I think the fan controller would be a must-have for a case with 6 fans ;)

HDD - for games the raptor will maybe improve map loading, and thats about it. Quick drive for sure though.

RAM - since you mention overclocking, I'd consider maybe something a bit faster than PC3200 (DDR400).

didnt realise just how much the Ath64 & FX has caught up with Intel in OpenGL/Quake3, you can see what I was talking about ("generally Intel is faster for OpenGL/Quake engines") regarding ye olde Athlon XP's but I was well off when we're talking about the 64 bit chips :Q
