setup cannot find any hard disk installed on xp reformat

I have an older dell dimension b733r

its a p3 733mhz
512 ram

on intel i820 motherboard

it had windows 2000

im trying to do a clean install reformat and in the setup it recognizes my harddrive but when you get to the blue screen to reformat (After it loads built in drivers)


its a maxtor 200 gig ata

it says "setup cannot find any hard disk installed"

ive tried attacheing diff cables... still i have no clue..


it has bios A08

Got me stumped. You're using the built-in Intel IDE controller, right?

Run the Maxtor disk diagnostics?
Do a quick Ubuntu install to the drive and see what happens?
