That map makes no sense.

If an area is less than 100% then what do the other % call it? Lame.

Alaska is pretty interesting. Oddly enough I grew up in central Ca and called it Coke(I call it soda now). But my mom was from Nebraska, could be why. She says lots of odd things like "go worsh the dishes" and "we are pouring some seement" or "grab me a pellow"

Tonic is a flavored carbonated drink. I grew up using tonic instead of soda/pop.

I guess the popular term around here is pop, but most people don't use it much. Instead most people would just use the brand name.

Must have been rural Nebraska... of course, that's something like 90% of the state.

It doesn't matter who wins - what's clear is that the south LOSES once again. ;)

Not because of population, but because it's retarded to use a brand name (that still exists) as a generic name for a product. I'm looking at you, kleenex people!

Can you think of an effective way to convey that information? The map does a fine job of doing what it's attempting to do. It's not attempting to tell you the breakdown, it's attempting to tell you which is most dominant in each area, and how dominant it is.

such affectations are reserved for liquor and other spirits, preferably while mingling at the country club or the deck of one's yacht.

Typical conversation in Texas.
Guy 1: "Hey can you get me a coke?"
Guy 2: "Sure, what type you want?"

Just as a note Coke and Soda are generally interchangeable in Texas, but if you ask for a pop people will look at you funny.
