Setting up Wireless Repeater

Cares

Senior member
I have FiOS coming in upstairs to my house on my Actiontec router/modem. I of course have spotty WiFI reception downstairs in my house.

I have an old Linksys WRT54G v3.0 laying around that I loaded DD-WRT v24-sp2 onto. I'm trying to follow the step by step on setting up a wireless repeater bridge here:

http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Repeater_Bridge

Problem is that after I follow all the steps and my Linksys restarts. I can no longer connect to the router or the Virtual AP I created. I can only hard reset the Linksys to get connected back onto the Linksys. Of course this resets all of the settings I did back to default.

Does someone want to kindly help me walk through setting this up? I don't know what I'm doing wrong since the instructions are pretty self explanatory.

Go to STATUS>WIRELESS, bottom of the page click SITE SURVEY. On the right click JOIN and the field will be populated in WIRELESS>BASIC SETTINGS. Within this page,
Wireless Mode should be REPEATER, if not available go CLIENT BRIDGE. If you are successfully connected to the main router, then go ahead and setup Virtual Interfaces. Good luck.
