Guys I'm trying to setup a vpn server running l2tp to provide vpn access for clients on a wireless lan. I've installed certifacte services and I've issused a computer cert to my test client. I've set the vpn server up to only accept ms chap version 2 and l2tp connections. The cleints are also setup to only attempt an l2tp connection. My problem comes in when I try to connect to the vpn server I get an error 768 stating connection attempt failed because of failure to encrypt data. I named the computer cert l2tp vpn that I installed on my test client. However I did not install a computer cert on the vpn server simply because it already had one. I had been runnning a wireless infrasture backed by win2003 which used peap. We had a ton of problems out of that setup mainly in the area of dropped connections and logon scripts. So do I need to install a entirely new computer certificate in order to get the l2tp vpn server up and running.
