Setting up Pproxy for RC5

jinsonxu

Golden Member
Hiya! Anyone else besides Mika and Jator tried setting up a pproxy for RC5?

I'm currently stuck at the Perl script. Anyone has advice or experience to share?

Hehe, several people have set it up. I have to go to a baby shower this afternoon, so I won't be available til tonight to assist much. If you send me the info I asked for, I'll configure it tonight for you and send it to you.

jinsonxu: I already replied in the other thread... what's your problems?

Tell me and I'll do my best to help you... other members that I know have it running are Mandrill, HeaviIron and SAK... + me of course 😉 I'm sure there are lots of others!

????

do you have the current version of Perl installed??
are the path variables set ??

when you run the script what 'error' does it give you??

..Dale

Ok, now, don't laugh please...hehe...i've discovered that i don't currently have a web server. Anyone know of any links to get that?

That's why i got stuck when configuring the script.

jinsonxu:

If you wanna publish your stats to the other guys on your team you'll need the webserver thing, but you're able to make the stats pages without one... Free webserver that should also come in win32 flavor... at least it did last time I checked 😉

You haven't written what kinda box your running this pproxy on... if it's a linux box you'll probably already have Apache as it's a common thing to include in many distros... if it's a win2k box I think you'll already have IIS at least a version that'll allow you to do a simple page like this...

He's using WinME. I've reccomended he use AnalogX to beging with. Simple GUI interface and not a lot of configuation to worry about.

I've offered to e-mail it to him since he seems to have a problem downloading it. I'm about to leave for the afternoon, so if I can't get it to him before I leave, can someone do the same for him.

Thanks.

Jay

Ok, i've downloaded the software. You guys are great, fantastic help too, especially Jator.

But with him gone before i start on the main part, i'm gonna need some help...

OK WinME it is 😉 I'll download the software and see if I can figure it out... I know how to do the pproxy things that needs to be done ...

Have a nice afternoon Jay! 😎

Ok, now i've got AnalogX installed, Active Perl installed, PpstatsRC57.1 installed, plus the regular proxy client for RC5.

Active Perl installed: C:\Perl\bin\Perl.exe
PpstatsRC57.1 installed: E:\HZRC5Proxy\ppstats-rc5-7.1\
Directory my stats will be in is: E:\My Homepage\Hzgg\HZRC5\

Currently no idea how to set the HTML root.

Proxyper.ini file is located: E:\HZRC5Proxy\

Ok, after spending some time going over the ini files, Two-Face and i discovered some mistakes. But even after correcting them, the perl script simply flashes a quick window and disappears. Doesn't seem to be working....hmm.. :frown:

Even more weird, typing perl -v in the dos prompt yields a bad command while the documentation states that it's supposed to show the version number of perl. So, what's up?

Yes!!!

The script is finally working! Had to comment our the set priority line.

Here's my heartfelt thanks to Jator, Two-Face and RC for the valuable help they've offered and the patience they've shown in the process! TA is great man!

Sweet that you got it to work jinsonxu 😎

That's what we're here for helping the other team members 😉

PS: Would you let me see your page one time? 😉

Hi, was wondering what most of the proxies set their buffout treshold to. Mine's currently at 500WU but when it overflows, it encounters some trouble.
