Well for chritmas I got a ASUS K8V SE Deluxe w/ 3200+ 64 Athlon. I also got a new 300 GB Seagate hard drive. Well I already have my primary ide and secondary ide connections used ( CD Drives and HD's ) so I just set the new HD up to the raid it detects it fine sees all the GB's sets up the HD automatically as 1+0. But when I boot windows and open Computer Management it doesn't read the HD as being there at all. I have already set up all the drivers for this motherboard in the past. O btw the raid setup is a promise controler. Any help is greatly appreciated.

That IDE connector on the edge of the board will only work when paired up with one or both of the SATA connectors on the Promise controller.

Paired with one SATA, you can do RAID 0 or 1. Paired with two SATA, you can do 0+1.

I ran into this exact same situation on my P4PE. Same setup with two SATA ports, one IDE edge connector and a Promise controller. Ended up getting two SATA drives.

A much cheaper alternative would be a PCI IDE controller card.

Your board may be different, but I poked around for a minute or two in the manual for your board and I believe this to be the case.

Check the Motherboards Forum. Maybe somone with the same board can give you a definitive answer.

You may want to take a look in Device Manager to see if you have an entry for SCSI and RAID controllers. If not, the drivers are not installed. Get those installed before throwing in the towel.
