Setting up microphone on the Asus Essence STX

I cannot seem to get my microphone working on the Asus essence STX. The Asus essence STX has 5 ports. At the moment it looks something like this.

-SPDIF Out - not connected.
-Line In - connected to a cheapo desktop microphone.
-HeadPhone - connected to Sennheiser HD595.
-Front L - connected to Logitech Z2300.
-Front R - connected to Logitech Z2300.

The speakers and headphone works flawlessly, but I just cannot get the micro to work. Under sound --> recording, the microphone is enabled as the default device. Nothing is muted.

Help would be greatly appreciated to get this working. Details of my rig can be found below.

Anyways, is the "Line-in" device enabled?
