Setting Up IDE Raid

do i have to have matching hard drives to do this. is there anything i should know.
just general help so i dont screw it up. wanted to know before i get started.

best bet is to get 2 identical HDD. ive read some time ago in a thread here that someone did it with 2 different capacity drives but used identical partitions. i beleive that you must have at least identical speeds (7200rpm).

because of this thread, i tried this:
took a seagate 3.2gb 5400 dma2, fdisk and 1 partition fat32.
and a quantum 5gb 5400 dma2, fdisk and 1 partition fat32.
put them promise controller under RAID, in A7V133 bios 1007, duron 700, cdrom sec master, conner(seagate) 1gb running win98se.
build an array in bios as 6+gb.

i cannot get windows to load the drivers of raid controller off the original cd.

any clues on what's wrong?
