setting up e-mail for Ubuntu Evolution program

Can someone give me some suggestions regarding what the various parameters should be for getting my "VERIZON" email account to work with the Ubuntu Evolution email program ?

I am familiar with what the parameters are in Outlook express but when I try these same parameters (or at least my best guess) in Evolution the program it will neither send or receive emails.

I have called Verzion about this and they are NO help. I have also, looked for information via google and have yet to find a solution.

Thanks.

Can you give us a bit more information, not your username/password or anything; but is it POP3, IMAP? any special settings in outlook? etc.

Yes, basically in Outlook express, Verizon requires POP3. Their server names are "outgoing.verizon.net" for sending email & "incoming.verizon.net" for receiving email.

You also have to provide your email address and password and they do require authentication.

Is it possible that the reason that this is not working with the Ubuntu live CD is that the POP e-mail requires space on the hard drive to store the emails and that by using the live CD version (as opposed to installing the program on the hard drive) that the email program does NOT have access to hard drive storage space ???

Thanks.

Ask them for the names of their incomming and outgoing pop servers. Then its just a matter of filling in the blanks. Otherwise there should be nothing special about it. (if they wont support evolution, tell them you use thunderbird, cause its a windows app as well as linux) Then use the same settings they give you in evolution.
