i just set up the nameservers this morning.

when i type the domain name into IE, i get the godaddy.com "coming soon!" page.

when i type the IP from my webhosting, i get the cPanel page.

have the nameservers not fully resolved (i think that's the term) yet?

it takes a while - up to 48 hours

In my experience it finishes resolving between 12 ans 24 hours

also, i uploaded a simple page (index.html) to my host, but i can't seem to get it to display. i put it in the root directory and also tried putting it in the public_html directory. am i forgetting to do something?

or does the nameserver need to fully resolve before anything like that will show up?

ah, thanks, though :)

i'll wait for the nameserver to completely resolve and then email support if it's still not showing up.

Yep and you're welcome.

You should be very happy with AddAction.net :)

Since its public_html that means you're are on a cPanel server.

To see your the file it should be http://ipaddress/~username/index.html

ah nice. it shows up now.

how do i get this to show up when i just goto: http://ipaddress? do i have to wait for everything to resolve?

If you are on a shared AddAction plan then it will never show up at http://ipaddress/ as you are sharing an IP with many other clients. When your domain propagates it will be visable at http://domain.com/

If you're getting the coming soon page, that means its resolved. If it wasn't resolved you'd get nothing, make sure you setup up nameservers and didn't check to have them park it..

No, if you are getting a coming soon page that means it is still resolving to the godaddy nameservers, that it was origional set to when the domain was bought :p

Not all people buy domains and change the dns immediatly to their hosting company ;)

Correct.

NameCheap and GoDaddy domains always default to the domain registrars placeholder (unless you change it to your web hosts).
