setting up desktop wireless connection

So currently my desktop is connected to a DSL modem and router. It is set up for a Wi-Fi connection. I have been able to connect using my laptop. My question is if I have a Wireless PCI adapter, can I connect to the desktop? Is this questions confusing? Notice that I have only 1 desktop.

Basically what is going on is the DSL modem is connected to the router through an Ethernet cable. The router is connected to the computer through another Ethernet cable. Now, I also use my Xbox for Live. So now I have to buy another ethernet cable to connect the router to the Xbox. So I just want to know if it is possible to use my desktop attached with a Wireless PCI adapter to connect to the wireless connection so I can free up an Ethernet cable?

Is this clear now?

thanks for the help
