Setting up Counter Strike

I just got Half Life (Game of the year edition) and I need to know how to get Counter strike working. I've never played it so I just heard about it from my friends... What do I have to download and how do I set it up? I would appreciate some help, thanx.
 
Simple
Install HL
Fully PAtch HL (latest patches)
Download latest CS
Install
It's pretty intuitive, just remember u need the latest HL and CS patches (Well, the ones the servers u play on use-i'm pretty sure it isnt backwards compatible like UT)
 
I wanted to set up a LAN game, I went to LAN games, and it gave me an error message when I tried to set one up. Thanx.
 
head over to tweak3d.com, read their new HL tweaking article. make sure you dont select the high quality models.
 
Thanx, I got Counter Strike up and running... It's awesome, I get to go around fraggin' my bro... or actually him fraggin' me. Now... I gots to post a new thread about Delta Force 2 not workin' hehe.
 
Congrats spinkick. On a side note, does anyone know how to change the refresh rate for this game? I ran it at 10x7, changed it to 800X600, and it's still at 60Hz. Is it a game issue or graphic card? Appreciate any info for the help.


 
Spin, head over to Tweak3d.net and use the autoexec.cfg creator for Halflife. It can improve your FPS performance greatly.
