Setting up an online merchant account

Anyone knows how we can set up an online credit card merchant account for a business? What are the steps involved and how long does it take? Tell me about it in detail, thanks in advance!!

Appreciate puppy's post but it's not helpful at all besides being sarcastic. I am wanting to consult someone who knows the steps to get it done and to offer some direct interation help besides reading from Google.

Paypal works fine. Otherwise you have to get your own SSL certificate (for secure credit card transactions) or find a host who has it implemented for more $$$. Not to mention you have to modify code which is not very common (Miva merchant, etc.). Paypal is definitely the easiest way but there's also a small % they take with credit card orders.

yea but i don't know of any cc processing company that doesn't take a cut from the sale
