Setting up a LAN CSS game

I tried to create a server, but we cant see each other.

Does anyone have a quick list of the network configurations i should have before creating a lan server?

Make sure everyones default gateway is the same. Example: 255.255.255.0 Especially if someone has there IP config set manually , they might not be they same. While a few games will work like this, most wont , I know Warcraft 3, CS, and quake 4 dont work without the gateway being the same.
