how can i do this? i have looked on Netgear's site and every message board i can find...but no luck. i've read that people have done it, but they never say HOW they did it.

i want to run Q3 and UT servers. i've tried using the "DMZ" option for the host, but that didn't work. the server is never visible outside the LAN. :(

please post info on how to do this. :)

(running windows 2000)

If you want to run an ftp/web/telnet server you will need to go and disable the filter for those in menu 21. Otherwise for any other server, just go into menu 15, and in the list on the left side type the port #, and on the right type the internal ip of the computer hosting the server.

cool, but what about games that use a range of ports (i.e. Q3)?

the range is like 5 or 6 ports, i think. unless you just add them all individually. i'll check it out.

thanks-

Either you have to add them individually or just set your computer as the default in menu 15, and that fowards all the non specified ports to that computer.

hi again-

i have tried all of the above suggestions, but no luck (at least with Unreal Tournament...that's all i want!!!) :)

steps i've done:

setup menu #15
set the DEFAULT to the IP of the server running UT

result: server does not display when scanning UT servers... :(
(it does appear in the LAN servers tab, of course...just not the Internet server tabs)

i also tried setting up each individual Port # (there were 5 or 6, i believe) to the server IP, but that didn't do it either.

i think this Netgear's firewall works "too" good. hehehe :(

I run a TFC server behind my RT314 no problem
It is placed in the DMZ.

it CAN be done.

I can pop open individual ports when I want to play D2 or something else with my buddies

homerboy-

ok, so how do you do it? the only way i know is via the menu #15 option (SVA server?).

do you set the DEFAULT to anything or just the individual ports?

It should show in the LAN tab for any game searching for a server behind that router. Have you had someone outside of your LAN try to connect to your server? Either by directly typing in your IP address or by finding it on their server list.
If those two choices point to no, remove the router and hook up that computer directly to your dsl/cable modem and try running a server directly without a router. If that doesn't work, you've eliminated the router as the source of the problem.
