setting up 2 modems in the same house

ok so without starting a novel i will give you a bit of the background and ask anything i might have left out to make this complete.



Basically i wanted to setup 2 cable modems in the same house off the same drop but the cable company told me that i can setup 2 dynamic ips off the same modem but i couldn't setup 2 modems in the same house without paying for 2 services.Is there a possible way to do this or are they telling the truth...the fact is that i am now paying for 2 internet connections in the same house($40.00 bucks for each one) and digital cable which adds up to $140 a month. ouch!!!

Yea they are right. You can get a cable/dsl router. You connect the cable modem to the router and then connect your computers through the router. Usually these types of routers will have a built in hub to allow x amount of computers to be connected to it. Hubs, routers, switches, DSL, LANs, WANs...? And more info on wireless networking here if the computers where you want to have the connection would be too far away.

yeah i totally understand i do have a router 2 to be exact ...but the fact is that we both have our issues about each others router so in the end i guess we will have to stay with the 2 connections
