Setting Process Priority in XP

It should be simple, but I (as a fairly new Win XP user) just can't figure it out.
How to permanently set process priority for certain programs? I.e. so that Windows would remember it after restart?

Technically you can't and normally there's no reason to.

But if you really need to, you can setup a script to start the program with the 'start' command which can set the priority on startup.

Well... the reason is simple. When you have 700 Mhz CPU and several progs running, it's hard to get smooth video output, unless you set the process priority to High. Or I can handle it in any other way?

You can CTRL-ATL-DEL, right click on the desired process and set the priority there.

You could create a .bat file which takes advantage of the 'start' command, and set the priority via that.

You place it on your desktop and click it to start the program in question.

At the command line type start /? for more info..
