I am trying to configure a LinkSYS BEFSR41

Problem: I can't stay connected on-line for one game (Midnight Club Los Angeles). I am not
sure why. I have a Type 2 NAT; i flicked on UPnP and DMZ.

How do I dedicate a port just for the PS3 ? I think for XBOX you need to establish two, one
XBOX, the other XBOX Live.

Can anyone help ? Thank you.

UPnP is off - or at least not working - in the PS3.

It was off via the router, until I turned it on. For a moment, I did increase my on-line time from 15 seconds to about 2 minutes.

But then I started tooling around with port ranges, port triggering, port forwarding, etc and i'm back to 15 seconds again.

UPnP should take of everything if you have it enabled on the router and PS3. So eliminate any forwarding/triggering and any of the jazz.
If not just google around for the ports you need to forward and eliminate everything you've done before you set it up. It might not be a bad idea to set the router to default and start over and also upgrade the firmware of the router, write down any critical settings on the router first of course.

The UPnP on the PS3 is done automatically as far as I can tell. I clicked the router's UPnP back on and undid the few changes I made elsewhere.

When i try to update the firmware i receive the following message:"upgrade file pattern error"

The bin file is associated with VLC (video player).

Were there other files from the update?
You might have used the wrong file to update the firmware.
