Setting Connection Priority

Is there a way to set up my computer so that if it detects a Ethernet cable with an internet connection being plugged in, or if it starts up with the cable in, it automatically uses the Ethernet for the internet connection instead of my wireless? I've been digging around and I cannot seem to be able to find a way to do so

Thanks

what OS are you using?

Under network connection, click on advanced at the top, and advanced settings and you can select the priority of your network adapters, though typically wired is usually already setup above wireless. There is an extra step for vista/win7 I think you have to edit the menu to have it show the advanced button. You could also put a shortcut to your wireless adapter on your desktop and just disable it when your plugged in.
