Setting a Network password with XP Home

I have windows XP Home, and I'm on a workgroup network at school, where other students can access each others files & printers. I want to set a password so only people that know it can access my files/printer. I cannot figure out how, and I've done many searches and come up blank.

Or are my files safe from people altering or adding things to my computer? In the sharing tab for the files I'm sharing, there is a box that says "Allow network users to change my files" and it is unchecked...Does this mean I'm safe?

I would like to add a password anyway so only certain people can see my files.
