SetiQ question.

I ought to know this but it's been awhile since I've setup setiQ. I'm running the client on the same machine as setiQ. I've patched the client, now what? Do I have to set the proxy settings to get the client to use setiQ or has patching the client taking care of all that? Are there any setup differences when running the client on the same machine as setiQ on a standalone machine as opposed to the client on the setiQ server when it's on a network?

Hi blade_47,

No, just use the patched client and the renamed .dll. DO NO use the Proxy address when on the same machine as the SetiQ!!

I've used the above method the same way on a standalone machine and on a network system. Both seem to work the same way.

i'm just setting up setiq myself, and how exactly do you patch the client. setiq says it's waiting for the client to send initial WU request.

Fingers go here if you haven't already and follow the steps to patch the client. You only have to patch the client that's running on the same machine as setiQ. On the others all you have to do is set the client's proxy settings.

Someone should really put setiQ complete with a patched client and SetiSpy up on the team site for download. I think it would really help the setiQ newbies out alot. That way all you'd have to do is download, unzip & configure the qseti.txt file.

okay i'm following the instructions, but i ran into a wall. for some reason Wsockhk.dll isn't being displayed, but i can use find to find it. so i know it exists but just can't seem to get to it to make a copy and move it. any suggestions.

Hi Fingers,

You need to change your Folder Option configuration to "Show All Files."

Double-click on "My Computer"
Double-click on the drive "C" Icon
Click on the "View" menu item
Select "Folder Options..."
Select the "View" tab on top
Under Hidden Files turn on "Show All Files"
Click "Apply" at the bottom
Now you will be able to see the .dll files

okay, i thought i had it working. but now seti@home is trying to connect to a server to get rid of the WU and get another, seti q says waiting 24hr and doesn't have any caached WU.

Fingers: You need to describe the configuration to which you are refering. Both programs on same machine, etc?

Can you do "SQ local stats" or if remote system "SQ ip address stats and get the stats displayed?

i havn't tried that. right now i'm trying to set them up on the same machine. but add another one shortly on a network.
