Was just trying to find Seti Driver as a service install and looked at the link I had but couldn't find it. So I just used the trusty old search engines and BAM - there we were:D I was using IE and it was using the MSN search engine(new machine :D - don't have mozilla on it yet ;) ) I searched for " seti driver service " guess who was #2? and who was #7 :D:D:D Woot! :D:D

Just thought I'd let you all know.:p:D

Oh and I still haven't located the seti Driver service install, so links would be appreciated.:D

Thanks

OH crap - this is a winXP box. Any way I can install as a service and still have caching? This is my Moms machine and she doesn't get online everyday so I need to be able to cache some units. Or.....if Setihide works well with multiple users on XP then I suppose I could use that too.

Any help?

I'll be darn.

Does the XP computer have multiple users setup? One of my teammates set their computer up that way and as long as one of the users was logged in Seti would run. Only problem was each user got in the habit of logging off when finished and I was never sure if Seti was running. Is this the same situation?

OK - got SetiHide installed as a service on XP using srvany.

I had read somewhere(setihide forum maybe) that people were having problems with possible multiple instances when people "switched" users(not loging off then login in as diff user but just "switching") in XP.

It works great now! I can use it as normal(hidden) and switch between users and it just crunches away as if nothing happened. I suppose I could have done the same thing with SetiDriver but Seti Hide will do the trick.

I'll try to refind(is "refind a word? :p ) the link of the instructions I followed to do this.

Edit - YES Smokeball - this is kind of the same (but more). It does start even when NO user is logged in.:D

GGGRRRRR - All right - the problem now is that to make changes(manually flush, fetch, etc) and such you have to run the app(user mode) so it starts another instance of the CLI, but doesn't stop that 2nd one once you close the SH window:| You have to physically go into task manager and stop the "User Mode" one and leave the "system" one alone. Kinda a pain in the @ss but the app shouldn't get messed with very often.

Maybe installing SetiDriver would have been better? Hmmm - Maybe I'll switch it.

Ignore my statement about it not closing the second cli. You have to go to the second page of the "settings" and click on the "terminate all active seti threads" box. It won't shut down the "systems" thread - only the "users" thread. :D

WU!!WU!!WU!!

Thanks for listening to my posted thoughts.:p
