...let yourself be sweet-talked into spending two weeks revising all the existing DC FAQs, and making 8 new ones, so TA can be on the front page of AnandTech.com for a week 😛 (actually it was 9 new ones, but Distributed Gibs didn't make the cut)

BTW, I'd have thought this effort would've been good for at least one MVC vote by someone, an example of why I don't vote in those MVC things. People get forgotten or left out, and this time it seems to have been my turn.

Right on, I've done that a few times already.

When you build a computer that is supposed to be a regular work machine/game machine, but the first thing you do once it's online is download the client and start getting more WUs.

I didn't know that you did that, it requires a lot of effort and not being lazy, something I'm not good at. Congrats on the bang-up job .

....drive 30 miles into work on your vacation time because you are fearful that someone will shut down one of your boxes and not restart remote access

....tell your girlfriend that even taco bell is too expensive because you are saving up for a power supply for your new seti farm

....watch an entire unit process all night long even though you are running seti driver and have no graphics 🙁

You build a new system. The second thing you install on it is SETI. (The first being the bare operating system just to get it up and running).

That's just SIP, isn't it? 😕

(Standard Installation Procedure). 😀

knowing that all the systems you upgraded from 166's to 900's, are being being changed over to networked 3.2's that you don't have admin rights on now!

When you start testing different combinations of OC (CAS latency, RAS, FSB:memory sync) to optimize SETI performance 🙂

...when you bring your laptop's power cord to a lecture because you want to run SETI during the class, but don't want to drain your battery.

Too cheap to spend any more than $100 on your wife's present, but then the next week spend $280 on 1GB of DDR RAM for yourself!
