Depending on the chipset....BX rocks...and CAS latency. My 1GHz P3 at 1040 MHz CAS2 BX averages 5.5 hours. My 1 GHz P3 at 1025 on a VIA chipset avgs 6.5 hours. You should be around there maybe a bit more because of the dual cpu overhead. My guess...about 6 hr/wu.

Would they be Tualitin at that speed ?
If so, the times might be even better ?

I'd be really interested to see the times you get, do you know what RAM the servers use ?
I can get a Dell GX1 for free (PII350), I was thinking about getting the powerleap Tualitin Celeron upgrade for it (1.4Ghz) but I'm trying to figure out if it's worth it (the upgrade costs as much as a mobo and XP processor !!)

cheers,

Col

Ack... Unfortunately I have a CLI window open and I am just running seti for a couple days so I won't be monitoring their progress :(. They both have a gig, but I am not sure the RAM they use... I wasn't that involved with the purchasing process :(.

Nope... I have an internal Q at home, but nothing at work... I will probably be turning it off tommorrow since many customers want to be on these servers :(, I might be able to keep em going at night for the rest of the week.

Wow! Another siting of Assimilator1! Will wonders never cease!

Good to see you about ColinP :) ,hope things are working out for you!

Mucman
Why don't you just point them to a public Q? ,or is there no net access?

Ack! Good point... They aren't going to be running much longer though...

Ack! I forgot I have a Q running on my workstation at work! They are going through it now, so I just get a few workunit times :D

My PIII 1000EB runs close to 7 hours on a crappy 815EP chipset on a TUSL2 board running Win2K.

my Athlon 900 TBird running on an Asus A7Pro KT133 chipset runs about 20-30 mins faster than the PIII 1000EB... very strange indeed.

or the Athlon just so happens to be alot better at this crap.. :D

My Athlon T-Bird 1.4 @ 1550 on a MSI K7Tturbo2 board takes between 5 and 6 hours per WU. Seems to me it should be faster. My ram is K-Byte, the cheap stuff. Is that the prob?

My fathers Athlon 1.4Ghz does most WU's in 5hrs ,others quicker ,though he does have good quality Crucial PC133 CL2 RAM which allows the RAm timings to be set to Turbo,CAS2,4way interleave :).
I would guess your RAM timings are probably fairly conservative ,but you should at least be able to run it with 4way interleave enabled ,try it & see how your rig runs
