Holy crap! I've just checked the Team standings, and noticed BBR has overtaken us!

They got a huge new member with over 200,000 work units!

Oh my god. I'm in shock, i can't believe this!

We really need to step up our production to get back into 5th place overall :(

Well that's not good news. I still don't like how SETI does the stats. When a member leaves their WU's should stay with the team. It would prevent this team jumping.

EDIT: Oh yeah... It is 4/1. ;) Still, I stand by my original comments. Between the cheaters and team jumpers SETI has a lot of room for improvement as far as stats go.

And Confused was rather confused because he was so excited about posting his April Fools' joke that he couldn't even type straight. ;)

Afraid I'd have to disagree about 1 point ,the WUs I have completed are mine (mine all mine! mwahaha....err anyway:eek:) & so therefore I want them to stay with me whichever team I'm on.......no I'm not planning on leaving;)

well since I'm just running Prime95 right now anyway and not crunching... (how long does it need to run before I consider my setup stable?)

There's two sides to everything, I can certainly understand both about this issue of WU's belonging to the person who crunches them or to the team they join.

I can tell you I would greatly hesitate joining any team if I knew that I was handing over all my work and would no longer own my stats should I decide for any reason to leave that team.

Of course it could also turn into a database nightmare and there would have to be some kind of hostility mitigation body set up to deal with problems.

I think that however imperfect it is staying with a system where each person owns their own WU's and stays with a team if he is happy there is best.
Then a team that keeps it's members by being a good place to belong will do well, a team that craps on it's members will not do well.
There is a built in incentive to work at making your team one where people want to belong and to stay.

I think you will always have people who like to play games so they move around, but they are the tiny minority it seems.

Well, I always liked the way that RC5 did the WUs with teams.

Any WUs crunched by you were credited to you. If you had never been on a team and joined a team, the WUs also get credited to the team. If you leave that team and go join another team, any WUs crunched for the first team still are credited to that team. You also get credit for those WUs in your personal stats.
Any new WUs crunched are credited to the new team.

So the team gets credit for any work done while you are a member, you always get credit for work done whether or not you are on a team, and if you change teams, any new WUs are credited to that new team.

That way, one person with 200,000WUs can't impact a team's standings if they decide to leave like happens with SETI.

I still can't bring myself to do this. I figure that if I can run seti, do anything else I want to do and get no crashing, then I am stable enough! :)

That sounds like a Fair way to do it. Iv'e crunched 28K for Team AnandTech. Ia'm leaving to join a friends Team. My 28K stays with AnandTech, and i start the new Team at 0, But i still have 28K to my credit. That sounds good to me.....

Nah,afraid SETI doesn't prove a systems stability ,P'95 is far better at that.

For a quick rough test I'd say about 7mins ,for a proper test it does say in the stress.txt file & I think he says 6hrs+! (yeah thats some lost WUs!:p)

I found when I had it set too high I would get errors within a couple minutes.
Otherwise I let it run 20 mins at a time, after 20 mins I figured it was good enough for me.
