Welcome to Team AnandTech SETI! 😀

We are now 2,546 members strong. 🙂

I would like to introduce our newest member:

WW2Planes1 ---- Rank 1063 New ---- 371 Wus :sun: ---- Mentor: MoFunk
Here is your Personal Stats Machine

Your personal mentor will be contacting you shortly.

He may not be able to contact you if you don?t have PMs enabled (Allow Private Messages) ? you can do that in your profile. 🙂

We hope you drop by often and say hello. 😉

We like to recommend that all of our new members go to the following link:

How to run SETI and Join TeAm AnandTech

Once you have your SetiDriver setup and working properly it is recommended that you use one of the TeAm's SetiQueues.
This will insure you have WUs to crunch when the Seti Server is down.
How To configure your SetiDriver to use a TeAm SetiQueue. 🙂

Our Mentor TeAm <----- :wine:<clink>:wine: Kudos to our "Big Brothers" 🙂

Welcome to the TeAm WW2Planes1! 😀

Happy Crunching during these exciting times with the TeAm vs BBR! 😀

hey, thanks for the welcome, and sorry to bring bad news, but unfortuntely, I'm leaving college to take a semester off starting in January, so i'll be losing my beautiful T1 connection and reverting back to my parents AOL connection, (which, of course means i won't be able to post to these forums either). I'll still try and get some work done, by signing on occasionally to download a batch of work units, but my productivity will be down, not that its all that high to begin with... there's something wrong with my computer I think... i'm averaging about 12 hours per unit on an AthlonXP 1800 (@1.533GHz) is that about what other people are getting? or not?

*ack* That should be MUCH lower. Thats about how long my celeron 700 takes to crunch a unit. Are you running the CLI version or the screensaver?

:Q

Are you running the GUI/screensaver client? IF so then this is the problem. With that system you should be averaging 2.5-3 HRs per WU

I think what you need is the 3.03 CLI client matched up w/ SetiDRiver (assuming you dont have this already)...also about the aohell connection....one day just download 50 WU or so overnite and crunch those then do the same for uploading 😉

Either way. Thanks for being a member & More Importantly Gluck w/ taking a semester off!

Both my Athlon XP 1800's @ stock speed average around 3.5 hours per with the CLI v3.03. I even ran the Ars benchmark WU with the v3.07 GUI in 4:41.
Is something else taking up CPU cycles?
Running a screensaver?

well, until now i was running the GUI, but i also use the computer as my main computer, so SETI doesn't get 100% of my CPU time, but i still don't think that its that low. I've been having trouble with my computer, but i've been unable to narrow it down to whether its processor, memory, or video card. if 12hours isn't right, then i guess its related to the problem, and the problem probably isn't the video card. I'm guessing system memory, but i need to find time and someone with some DDR i can swap out to test... anyway, i'll definately download batches of units and crunch them out over the next year.

also, i can't connect to the Data server (either through the GUI or CLI), but i don't appear to be having trouble connecting to the internet in general... is anyone else having that trouble?

well, SETI connected... finally... i've got the CLI up and it seems to be working perfectly... that 12 hour average i quoted earlier was accumulated over the last year, (yeah, i've only completed 378 units in the last year... oh well, i'm playing catch up now). but the delay could have been caused by anything... SETISpy is reporting an esimated completion time of about 3hr20min on my current unit, and thats while downloading a batch of units and running iTunes, so i expect those numbers to improve significantly when i sleep. anyway, yeah... everything is working great now, so forget that last post i made.

(sorry, i tend to ramble a bit in posts, i'll be more succinct in future)

A) Rambling is perfectly acceptable here
B) Congrats on Seti connecting
C) Those times are MUCH better and that is the difference between cli and GUI 🙂 (noticeable , eh?)
D) Yay that everything is working great! 🙂

Glad to see you got things running sweet🙂

Btw ,re screensaver version ,having the graphics showing doubles WU times alone!:Q
