The stock rating for this engine was 390 hp, 490 ft.-lbs. However, although it is not currently running, the engine is now overbored to 446 c.i., has a bigger cam and I believe roller rocker arms, so it's probably slightly above stock.

The six pack (3 2-barrel carbs) was created basically as a fill in between your standard single 4-barrel carb that was found on most muscle motors of that time period, and a pair of 4-barrels that were usually only found on high end engines like the 426 Hemi. Here is a pic of the engine minus the carbs, showing the intake manifold. And here is a rather crappy pic of the six pack itself.

Jesus thats alot of Torque!!!:Q:Q *me faints*

I've had a moderate interest in performance tuning myself in the past ,though we mostly have straight 4s here in the UK their are some V6s & the Rover Alu V8 was a popular engine.10+yrs ago the best fuelling you could get for the V8 (road use) were 4 twin Weber 44 DCOEs (think thats right) that would give an awesome amount of power along with other mods of course🙂.(Custom injection kits are the way now).
Quad twins wasn't too common though due to fuel costs here 🙁.Anyway that setup gave a barrell per cylinder ,the ideal setup ,how does the inlet manifold (header?) spread 6 barrells for an 8 cyl engine?😕

*sigh* I'd love a Rover V8 with Quad Twins in my Sierra 😉

Assimilator1,
If you have problems with 6 barrels for 8 cyls, try the 2 barrel (I have a '67 Chevy Belair, 283ci 2 barrel in my garage) and 4 barrel carbs common (my '66 Chevelle had a Holley 4 barrel carb on that 396ci).

😀

I guess its no worse than my old Mk1 1.1 Fiesta I had ,that was a 4cyl with a single barrell carb😉 (not horrible VV)
2 barrell for a V8!??😛

Well, I'm sure it's quite twisty in there. 😀 Actually it only runs on the center carb until you punch it, then the outboard carbs come on line. So I'm pretty sure all 3 carbs dump into one central chamber, then the runners divert the fuel flow to where it's needed. 🙂

Yea, where the Pressure is lower...

😎

Yep, a 2 barrel for a V8. 🙂

I would get 21 to 22 mpg, cruising 70 on the turnpike with the air conditioning on. 🙂 Not too bad for a 4500 lb full size car from the '60s. 🙂

Jesus! ,gas guzzlers😉

My '79 Fiesta (900kg odd)would average about 37mpg I think ,I that was with my hard driving😉
hmm ,I think we've been hi-jacking this thread😉
