SETI: Warning - Do not let other people mess with your SetiQ!

To cut a long story short, I can run SETI at work provided I only up/download after 6pm.

I had to leave before then, and a colleague volunteered to connect, wait until it had x WUs and then disconn, letting it finish the one it was getting and then leave it.

I showed him the procedure 2 times.

I came into work today and SetiQ was not running. :Q

He had gotten those WUs alright, just exited SetiQ right after.

I'm going to cry 🙁 I was banking on that production as I was having a lean weekend anyway. Production for this weekend is about 9 when it should be around 45... :|

Bummer Migroo!! 🙁

A question though. Why don't you set SETIQ to connect automatically between specified times? I'm not sure how it operates under Dial-up (if that's what you're using), but if you have a permanent connection, you should be completely ok.

Still, the 45 WUs will be mourned!! :|

Migroo, it is still possible to do it on dial-up, my que dial's up and flushes at 1am each day. If this is a solution to you and you want to know how just PM me and i'll explain.

Alex 😀

Thanks guys (and Alex for the offer)

I dont think its too much of a problem. I am able to give the Queue proper supervision until mid-April when we get DSL, then I can just have it dump/fetch at about midnight - that should sort it.

On a lighter note, I have just added another ship to my smallish fleet, its nice to have another in the ranks 😀

Sorry for earlier, just a rant.. You can imagine how I felt when the stack of WUs I had meticulously prepared wasnt even started! 😉

Thanks for putting up with the moan 🙂

Migroo, don't you have SetiDriver running on your fleet?

That's the way I set it up at work, that way they can all still crunch for 5 days or during the weekends!

I connect to my Home Q during the day, so that way they're always working! 🙂

Why not the day before have SETIQueue download enough work units to last until the next time you could get to it?

aiex
Could you post how to get SETIQ to dialup & flush in here please?🙂
