I am having difficulties too. I was just about to post a similar thread. I can't access anything from the berkely servers. Have one client that needs work and wanted to check my stats, but no go. I noticed this almost 2 hours ago and have tried two different internet connections (home and work).

If you're not going through a firewall, you can get a temporary WU from orangekid's test proxy.

Use the following command:

seti -proxy orangekid.teamanandtech.com:5512

This assumes you've change the name of the seti executable to seti.exe. If yours is something different, change the above accordingly.

Once we get some other SETI Queue issues worked out with the author, we hope to get the proxy setup "official."

JHutch

*EDIT* It may take some time for the first WU to download, because SETI Queue has to create a "queue" for you the first time. But, orangekid has a solid, fast connection, and may be able to get to the seti servers easier than you do...

JHutch - I'm confused. Is the new Setiqueue locked in on the remote machine's executable name? I'm not sure how that would impact as long as the remote machine knows that its "proxy" is the Setiqueue machine... :frown:

Narr,,

he just means put SETI in if you renamed your executable...

Should the port be 5517 ???? (SetiQ V3.03 default)

cheers,

Col

The reason it's a problem to connect to Orange Kid's site through a firewall is because the SETI client needs the firewall address as the proxy address just to get out on the Internet, and then you'd need to give it a second proxy address to direct it to Orange Kid's site...

Or, if you're having the client try to connect directly to OK's proxy, you can just add the following two lines to your HOSTS file (this won't work if you're using the new SetiQ as a personal proxy, and I haven't tried it for sure to see if it will work with SetiDriver...):

24.25.104.20:5001 shserver.ssl.berkeley.edu
24.25.104.20:5001 shserver2.ssl.berkeley.edu

S@H tech page

"January 30, 2001

Due to a syntax error in an apache .conf file, one disk partition filled up, causing a general slowdown of the web server and the data server last night. This was easily fixed, and plans are being made to reduce server dependencies as much as possible (by moving them on bigger, separate disk partitions). "

I had trouble this AM but got a WU after hammering it for a bit.
I'm having trouble again right now.

I don't know if @Home is having some DNS issues or if it's something else, but I'm still having a heck of a time getting my boxes to connect to S@H to get WUs... and before anyone asks, YES, I'M USING THE 3.03 CLIENT ON ALL OF THEM!!

If I can't connect in a couple more minutes, I'm gonna let about 6 GHz of machines chew on RC5 blocks for a while. :)

Strange. I was able to connect around noon again without problems. I'm still using the 3.0 CL version, sent results and received new WUs...

Probably a @HOME issue if you ask me;)

Good luck!

HeHe...seems like every day for the past week the site has had problems. Not, long but enough to scare people into thinking the end has come. Bet everytime they do that a bunch more people upgrade to 3.03!:):D

Just a thought...

I'll ride 3.0 until midnight...;)

Is there a 3.03 command line version by any chance, without the screensaver thingy???

LOL JW - I keep saying the same thing after each "outage"... ;)

And Jalapeno - yeah, there's a 3.03 commandline... It's on this page. Just scroll down and look for "i386-winnt-cmdline.exe".
