Hi guys,

can't connect to the S@H server this morning...
As I'm am blocked from viewing the SETI web pages at work I was wondering if the server is down ????

cheers,

Col

p.s.

Have you seen The_One's dump figures on mattzone for yesterday !!!!!!!!!!

Nice

🙂

I noticed in my Setiqueue log that it had difficulty uploading results around 3:30am EST. It did finally upload and grab a few WUs just before 4am EST. Real slow though... 🙁

I'm still having problems too ,though for the 1st time in about a week I can get more WU's at around 6.30pm ,previously I've had to do it at about midnight or 7am🙁.

And yeah ,he must of been bursting 😉

I was having some problems too. SETIDriver keeps getting transmission errors, and I have to restart it again.......and again. A real pain when you have alot of workunits to send in🙁

The past few days I've come into work to find my SetiQ server still downloading WU's. Normally this is finished by then. Seems the servers are working but are slower than normal.

Time to use SetiQ and SetiDriver!! 🙂

From the S@H Tech page:

<< Lots of people have been reporting connection problems. We've looked at our server performance and don't see any apparent problems. We are running fairly close to our campus bandwidth limit, which could be causing some problems. The release of version 3.03 should help alleviate the problem. >>

Some further info....

After a while trying last night, I managed to connect from home using my ISP.

Still can't connect through the company proxy this morning, so I set up a dial-up proxy to my ISP using a modem. It's getting through with a few "S@H did not reply" errors etc. I hope my company haven't managed to stop me uploading/downloading through the proxy, hopefully it's just coincidence and my ISP has lower ping times to the SETI server or something..

Anybody have the IP address of the SETI data server ????

cheers,

Col

We've actually figured out what the problem is, and it took a while. The problem was actually related to something else that was reported on the newsgroups: Workunits with an angle range of 11.

The problem was that for some reason the telescope was slewing at high rate for several days. Of the last 1.6M workunits we generated, 780,000 were at an angle range of 11 to 12. These workunits complete in half the time that a normal work unit does. That means that our attempted connection rate went up by about 30%. Once these work units disappear from the disk the servers should get back to normal.

Right now there are 285562 of these high angle range workunits on disk (out of 633196 total). I'd expect they will be gone by some time tomorrow.

Crap! That means that most of my WU's as of late should take about 8-10 hours to do.....yick 🙁
