how fast is that? i have no reference point. i would understand if you said for seti, "we're averaging 1400 wu's a day." are we fast? are we slow? what do these numbers mean?

<< this participant's best day ever, which was 10-Oct-2000 when 5,754 blocks were completed at a rate of 17,877 KKeys/sec. >>

This is how fast we're going, not the 164kkeys/sec. That number is low because I retired the small amount my 233 did when not doing SETI for the last 472 days.

5,071 blocks were completed yesterday (0.00000738% of the keyspace) at a sustained rate of 15,755 KKeys/sec! Ranked 1,244 for the day.
That sounds good to me when you think of all the participants doing this

Anybody putting out 100,000 blocks in less than 20 days is doing well!!:)

(read strate's post)

Probably equivalent to about 20(ish) seti WU's a day!

That calc is rough and based on an output of about 2 seti/wu for a 500 class Celeron per day. (Of course this doesn't translate well because of the system performance requirements of each program) The same Celeron will knock out about 500 RC-5 blocks in a day.

Good work guys!!

"Probably equivalent to about 20(ish) seti WU's a day!"

Hmmm... That's not good. The 4 boxes I switch from SETI to rc5 used to put out between 16-21 SETI WU/day. I'm new to rc5 and am using pproxy. How do I know if my pproxy is working? My clients seem to be working through it but do I need to do anything else? Does the pproxy flush and fetch on its own?

I think that's quite a bit more than 20 seti wu's. My little fleet does between 8-12wu's a day and can do around 1100-1200 rc5 blocks a day.:)

My guess is about 30-40 WU a day at 5000+ blocks... So, when RC5 pays us back, it should be with interest, right? :)

Seti Cavalry averaged 21,885 KKeys/sec yesterday. That's almost 10 P6 (celerys or PII or PIII, they work the same) at 766 MHz each.
But it seems some others of you 'alien crackers' are submitting under solo emails or miniteams too.

Most of my rc5 production is going to TA_SETI... However, under my own e-mail, the phantom flusher is "donating" quite a few thousand blocks a day. I keep using that ID, though, for OGR, since the PhF never figured out OGR...

Wellcky,

Yes, but there is not much to see yet.
A few pages of my golden, my wife, my youngest kid, and a page made from stuff I stole from Russ, Badthad and other places.
If anyone used the free hosting with the $11 domain names, you can look at my
site to see how to get rid of the add at the top.
See my pathetic beginings here

Sorry im new,
whats:

<< My little fleet does between 8-12wu's a day and can do around 1100-1200 rc5 blocks a day. >>

[Oct 14 16:22:46 UTC] 28 RC5 packets (569 work units) remain in buff-in.rc5
8-12wu's a day? that can't be same thing as the 569 work units i see, because they go really fast.. whats a rc5 block?

It's a comparison of seti wu's to RC5 blocks. I usually get between 8-12 wu's a day running seti. If I had all of my systems on RC5 I'd get around 1100 RC5 blocks a day.

Now Seti Cavalry turned in 10392 blocks yesterday. If you divide that by what my systems can do in a day. You get around 9.4 times more RC5 blocks than I could do. So if you multiply my seti units by that amount you get 75.2-112.8 seti wu's. This puts the number of RC5 blocks done in terms us seti guys can relate to.:)

10392/1100=9.4*8=75.2
10392/1100=9.4*12=112.8

This is a very raw comparision not taking into account type of cpu used, bus speed, ram timings & chipset. All of these greatly affect seti wu times and thus daily output. But it does give us a reference point to look at.:)
