SETI RamDrive question

Ragic, This questions comes up every once in a while and the general consensus is that it does not help. I think it is mostly due to the fact that SETI only accesses the drive once every minute and Windows does a good job with disk caching.

Depends on your definition of "help" - I ran some fairly extensive tests a while back just for my own edification, and I determined that I could get a performance increase anywhere between 1 and 4 percent, depending on what the previous standard configuration had been.

In other words, the performance increase wasn't enough to justify implementing the solution. 🙁

Been there, done that. When the CLi wrote to the disk once a second, it was worth it; but it doesn't seem to be now.

NWM, when did you run those tests? On the current client? What OS? It might be worth it to me.

Current client: 3.03 CLI
OS was Win98SE
Tried both a Microsoft solution and a 3rd party utility - I'd have to do a search to see if I can find the 3rd party program again.
