"Ground Control to Major Tom!" Major Tom Tarca has finally lifted off in The Great 10K CountDown, handing over launch pad clean-up duties to ZeroEffect despite losing quite a few members of his P4 fleet. Setting his sights squarely on crt1530's rear thrusters, Major Tom will probably need to add a few more engines in order to keep moving through the pack. At the top of this star-studded bracket, GreatWhiteNorth has taken over the lead from a slightly sputtering Assassin who may be still suffering the ill effects of a stuck queue. Lest a little lube on the ol' wu chute clear up Soul Assassin's problems, GWN, a racer who's name will live forever in the SRL history books for his great deeds in the Great Race to 2000, may have a clear path ahead of him to the goal line.
Using a pry-bar and six sticks of dyn-o-mite, the Jumping Bean has free'd up the blockage in his wu queue to bombard Berkeley with a 264 wu payload, littering the wu-way with tons of spent wu cartridges. While we dispatch clean-up crews, BigWoofer keeps up his impressive digging, unearthing enough workunits to fill up nearly three industrial sized, 50-count wu shipment bags. We are now only a few days from what promises to be an exhilarating finish to The Very Very Loooonnnnggg Race to 10,000. Can the Big Dawg keep up his furious digging long enough to hold off IJump? Or will he have to resort to leaving a few smelly little piles of doggie-doo on the track, hoping that HeLeaps falls on his patoot after inadvertently stepping in one. This should be one thrilling conclusion to what has become an instant classic.
Paf077 had been salivating over the thought of passing Innuendo Minendo after watching his competitor tend to a swollen queue for several days in the Race to 7000. Unfortunately for our Canadian friend, Minendo has remedied what ails him, unplugging the queue and unleasing a torrent to the tune of 60 wu's. The sizable dump also causes a bit of acid indegestion for Freewolf who is nursing a 25 wu lead over Minnie in The M & M Boys & Some Others Race to Crunch 1000. Crazee cleans up in two racing venues this morning with an impressive 68, although The Mid-Major Crunch to 2500 with a Handicapped NWM would appear to be in conjur's back pocket. But lest the lead racers get too comfortable with their leads, networkman, the race's namesake, has left another competitor spinning by the side of the track after handing over fifth position to Yielder.
The Icecream Lieutenant talks a little smack in the Race to Crunch 1000 with a Crazee Twist, matching the migrooster's 19 with a 19 of his own as the bikini-clad babe waving the checkered flag at the finish line comes into view only 71 wu's ahead. But don't count out Mighty Micron or the EvaderMan just yet as they both enter the final lap with a legitimate shot at the title.
